Position Description: Position is responsible for directing organizational efforts and support in employee environmental, health and safety (EH&S), workers’ compensation, and regulatory compliance. Provide strategic guidance in pursuit of best EH&S practices, tactical support in implementation of EH&S and workers’ compensation practices and programs, and promote safety as a core value.
• Develop and drive implementation of strategic EH&S initiatives and workers’ compensation processes.
• Oversee the administration, implementation, and enforcement of all EH&S and workers’ compensation policies, procedures, and processes.
• Implement best safety practices and is the lead champion for safety.
• Assist organization in minimizing exposure to regulatory agency sanctions and monetary penalties.
• Audit and participate in accident and injury investigations, facility inspections, and risk assessments. Support GM and leadership team with programs, communications and processes in alignment with corporate EH&S and workers’ compensation policy and practices.
• Partner with Production Leadership in the identification, development and execution of process improvement initiatives, including leading communications, providing training, skills assessment, development and implementation of work procedures and corrective actions.
• Develop and manage the EH&S team, setting organizational and personal goals and objectives, developing staff, and establishing and managing budget.
Job Requirements
Experience/Skills Required: 10+ years experience in Health and Safety or Systems Safety role, 3+ years in a safety supervisor or manager level role. Strong analytical skills, excellent oral and written communications abilities,
solid interpersonal and supervisory abilities, effective project management abilities.
Education/Training Required: Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety or the equivalent.
Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NEC, NFPA, local and state laws and regulations for EH&S and workers compensation. Knowledge of FRA (Federal Railroad Administration) and FTA (Federal Transit Administration) a plus. OHSA experience a plus. Equipment Needed (i.e. Computer, Software): MS office products to include excel, word, powerpoint, visio, and outlook
