Sodexo is currently seeking an Executive Chef 1 to join our team at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa , ID. Northwest Nazarene University is a nonprofit Christian University that was founded in 1913 and now serves over 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students while offering over 60 areas of study, masters degree programs, accelerated degree programs, and a variety of continuing education credits. The Executive Chef 1 position will report directly to the General Manager, and is responsible the day to day culinary operations and production for the Northwest Nazarene University campus which will include resident dining, campus retail locations and catering. Primary responsibilities include inventory, ordering, menu design and planning, meeting with clients, training staff, taking care of human resources, ensuring compliance to food safety, sanitation, and overall workplace safety standards. This Executive Chef 1 position will be hands on and will require fifty percent kitchen support along with the other management responsibilities. This position will be responsible for the oversight of twenty kitchen staff employees, including hiring, progressive discipline and performance evaluations. This position will also be responsible for University catering, including high end events, and large attendee events on campus. The Executive Chef 1 will work collaboratively with other management team members to maintain overall customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will have professional culinary training experience and the ability to successfully lead and develop a team as well as the ability to creatively and effectively problem solve and manage projects is desirable. Ideal candidate must have the ability to manage and execute multiple priorities, demonstrate professional communication skills, the ability to work in a collaborative environment and foster strong client and customer relationships. Catering experience is desirable. Candidates must have proficient computer skills, and the ability to communicate effectively to multiple audiences. Ideal candidates must be Serve-safe certified.
Designs, supervises, coordinates and participates in activities of cooks and other kitchen personnel in a medium to large account. This position is recognized as the technical expert, teacher and trainer for other chefs and cooks within the account. Selects and develops recipes and other items for clients. Develops menu, implements and trains HACCP, oversees/purchases food, establishes production levels and inventory controls, interviews and hires new chefs, manages/controls food cost issues and offer solutions, may train other chefs outside account. May cook selected items, and plan or price menus. Typically has chefs and cooks reporting to this position.
Basic Education Requirement - Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
