Job Description

Job Summary: We are currently seeking a Medical Science Liaison, Field Medical Affairs. This position will coverthe following states: WA, OR, AK, NV and ID. The applicant must live in a major metropolitan area within the defined territory. This position is responsible for developing on-going professional relationships with national/regional healthcare practitioners to provide medical and scientific support for Daiichi Sankyo initiatives in selected therapeutic areas. This position also facilitates the education of national/regional healthcare providers and colleagues regarding new therapies developed and commercialized by Daiichi Sankyo. This position works closely with other Daiichi Sankyo personnel to ensure information needs for national/regional healthcare professionals are met. The qualified candidate will serve as the Daiichi Sankyo field-based medical and scientific resource, as well as a mentor and training resource for newly hired and less experienced Medical Science Liaisons. Additionally, you will develop scientific material for educational programs and special commercial science projects as needed.

Responsibilities: In this position, you will develop professional relationships with assigned healthcare providers to ensure access to current medical and scientific information on Daiichi Sankyo products and areas of therapeutic interest. The purpose for these one-on-one discussions may include any of the following: trends in therapy; unsolicited requests for information; general advocacy development; or formulary related. Upon external request for information, you will present data on Daiichi Sankyo specific products or on a selected topic to enhance customer understanding. Presentations may be provided to healthcare providers and/or selected individuals within acute care or managed care organizations. The types of presentations provided may be any of the following: speaker events; continuing education programs; journal club discussions; advisory board meetings; grand rounds; or formulary committee considerations. You will facilitate the identification and presentation of research / educational grant proposals for Daiichi Sankyo support consideration. Upon request, you will provide information to selected regional experts to assist in keeping their presentations current and ensure they have medical and scientific information necessary to respond to questions encountered during their presentations. You will assist in mentoring and training new hires and experienced Medical Science Liaison personnel. Additionally, in this position, you will maintain a knowledgebase in strategically important therapeutic areas and gain knowledge in new therapeutic areas consistent with Daiichi Sankyo objectives. Additional responsibilities include serving as the Daiichi Sankyo field-based medical and scientific resource, interfacing with co-promotion partners, developing scientific material for educational programs, and assuming responsibility for special departmental projects. You will ensure that all projects are completed in a timely manner and within budget, performing additional duties as required.

Job Requirements

Requirements: Position level will be determined based on experience. Qualified candidatesmust have a terminal degree (e.g. MD, PharmD, or PhD) in a health sciences related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Medical Science Liaison candidates will have a minimum of 2 years of experience including medical & scientific affairs, clinical practice, research, academic or US managed markets preferred. Previous experience in Thrombosis, Cardiology and/or Metabolic Disorders, clinical research and medical education is highly desirable. The position requires strong scientific and pharmaceutical knowledge in combination with excellent presentation and teaching skills. Sr. Medical Science Liaison candidates will have a minimum 3 years of experience including medical & scientific affairs, clinical practice, research, academic or US managed markets required with a minimum of 2 years in the pharmaceutical industry preferred. Previous experience in Thrombosis, Cardiology and/or Metabolic Disorders, clinical research and medical education is highly desirable. 1-2 years of Medical Science Liaison or related experience required. The candidate will have demonstrated relationship building skills with KOLs, the ability to master a commercial therapeutic area, and the ability to train and/or mentor other Medical Science Liaisons.
