Associate Merchant at Sandpoint

Job Description

As a key member of the Merchandising team youll have responsibility for driving business results by developing the seasonal strategies that meet or exceed financial goals and customer satisfaction within assigned categories



What Youll Do

  • Create a comprehensive line plan to drive top-line sales to include a balance of key item drivers and novelty pieces with core product and seasonal mix.
  • Provide recommendations in the development/decision of the product assortment, merchandise point of view, shop strategies, key item positioning, and promotional plans, ensuring that the collection is compelling, commercially viable and supports overall business objectives.
  • Drive business results based on daily and weekly sales, margin performance and consumer findings. Provide recommendations to manager to react to business in a timely manner.
  • Conduct weekly analysis of stock to sales by classification, identifies trends, and best sellers.
  • Recap business and articulate learning to cross-functional partners
  • Prepare seasonal recaps for upcoming season planning through vendor recap and analysis, style and price evaluation and delivery timing.
  • Partner with Product Development/Design to discuss trends and product needs in the preseason planning phase. Works with manager to identify new business opportunities and determine ways to maximize current stores sales, develop and adjust line plans and execute all changes as needed.

Job Requirements

  • 3+ years buying experience in specialty stores or department stores with a focus on womens apparel or accessories/footwear/jewelry
  • BA/BS in related field from an accredited institution.
  • Collaborative decision making skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective business partnerships with cross functional partners
  • Proven ability to drive sales and manage an apparel category for maximum profitability
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build trust and relationships with internal customers
  • Ability to recommend creative solutions to work problems
