OB Tech-Part Time/ Rotating Day/Night Shifts

Job: Nursing Support

Delivers accurate and timely support services to the department Director and designated clinical unit through planned and organized work assignments, following established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Working under the supervision of a nursing, the Patient Care Tech performs various patient care activities necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. The positions tasks and responsibilities include:
  • Bathes, dresses/undresses patients assist with personal hygiene.
  • Serves and collects food trays. Assists with patient feeding.
  • Transports, positions and drapes patients for exams and treatments.
  • Assists patients in ambulating.
  • Takes and records vital signs, weights and I & O.
  • Performs non sterile dressing changes.
  • Passes and collects bed pans.
  • Changes bed linens.
  • Provides encouragement, support and comfort to patients and family members.
  • Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
  • Provides age and culturally appropriate care.
  • Orients and mentors new staff members.
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
  • Directs the flow of the patients medical record through out stay. This includes assembling of chart upon admission. Completing physician orders including entering the order correctly into computer, sending the orders to pharmacy, notifying nurse assigned/charge nurse if stat order or order with unusual need, noting orders completed, and directing the medical record to the charge nurse and assigned nursing staff for review and noting of orders. During and throughout patient admission monitors need for additional documents needed in chart including physician orders, intake and output records on designated charts, documents that arrive via printer or inner office mail that are chart specific. At completion of patient stay, is responsible to break chart down, organize and route to Medical Record department.
 RequirementsRequired Job Qualifications Include:
  • High School Graduate or equivalent required.
  • Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider
  • Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training program,
  • Certification as a Nurse Assistant preferred.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
  • Ability to quickly make decisions to report patient condition with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.
