JOB TITLE: ACUTE RNREPORTS TO: ACUTE PROGRAM MANAGER OR CLINIC MANAGER
FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
SUMMARY
Provides acute dialysis treatments for the acute program(s) within a hospital setting. Ensures quality, safe patient care, quality standards are met and other required duties that may arise during the general operations of the acute program(s). Requires travel between assigned facilities. Requires completion of credentialing process for all hospitals in the acute program(s).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned.
Financial Management
May participate in inventory management, including supply usage, end-of-month inventory reporting and adherence to corporate purchasing protocols.
Ensure time card is submitted by required deadline each pay period
Submit expenses and mileage claims in Concur, ensuring accuracy, appropriateness and correct charges to appropriate department/facility. Ensure all expense/mileage submissions meet the requirements of the related policies.
Ensure patient and treatment charge information and other related data are accurate and submitted to the appropriate corporate personnel in a timely manner
Patient Care Management
Perform acute treatments as directed.
Ensure all acute treatments are performed in contracted hospitals according to the established policies and procedures and in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
Ensure provision of dialysis related services such as hemoperfusion and plasma-pheresis if contracted to do so.
Ensure compliance with all hospital regulations.
Participate in all JCAHO, CMS, DPH and OSHA surveys as required.
Assure proper coordination of care between hospitals and outpatient dialysis facilities as applicable.
Maintain communication and continuity of planned care when a patient is transferred to other company facilities
Establishes rapport with patients and ensure nursing care is carried out as directed and treatment is administered in accordance with physician instructions
Maintain open communications with physicians, nurse practitioners and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care
Maintain a clean working area.
Ensures appropriate and required information is documented in patient records
Address patient concerns timely and appropriately
Facility/Equipment Management
Inform Clinic Manager or Clinical Coordinator of all incidents, conditions, problems, counseling and the necessity for further counseling as it relates to clinical staff, patient care and clinic management
Prepare and maintain dialysis machines and systems per policy: maintain dialysis records, prepare dialysis water treatment system for use according to established procedure and understand technical operations to resolve minor problems independently
Notify Bio-Med Technician regarding machine or water treatment malfunctions and provide appropriate documentation
Risk Management/Quality Assurance Compliance
Participate in in-service trainings as required.
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures in accordance with state and federal regulations for patient care and services (DSI Business Code of Conduct, HIPAA, CMS, OSHA, or other governing agencies)
Cooperate and assist with the internal audit process
Report all employee injuries and illnesses according to established policy and procedures
Participate in quality assurance according to company policies and procedures
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Complete the credentialing process as required by hospital(s) in a timely manner and in accordance with hospital requirements.
Work overtime with little or no notice as needed
Assist in the training of new staff members as requested.
Attend staff meetings, phone conferences, quality improvement meetings, educational activities and training as needed
Know, understand and follow employee guidelines, employment policies and department or company procedures
Consistent, regular, punctual attendance as scheduled is an essential responsibility of this position
Ability to lift minimum of 5 lbs. to a maximum of 35 lbs. unassisted and able to perform repetitive standing, sitting, stooping, walking, stretching, reaching and use full range of body motions. Hearing must be adequate to hear machine alarms and interact in person clearly and efficiently. Vision adequate to perform essential duties and responsibilities of the position. Ability to pass color vision test
Requires travel between assigned facilities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Degree from an accredited school of nursing required; Bachelors Degree preferred
At least six months of acute dialysis nursing experience preferred
Completion of approved training program as required by the company and CMS guidelines required prior to operating the water treatment system
Basic computer skills and proficiency required in MS Outlook, Word, Excel; proficiency in all required computer systems of the company including Pearl, etc. within 90 days of hire.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current RN license in state of practice required
Current CPR certification

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Able to communicate technical problems over the telephone and to receive and implement instructions to troubleshoot.
Able to identify patient emergency and manage situation until patient stable and transported.
