Job: Nursing - Professional

This position is responsible for participating in the direct care of patients in Womens Center; Performing nursing assessments of patients by observation and interaction with patient/significant others for educational, physiological, psychosocial, comfort, and safety needs; Planning and coordinating care, and follow-up with other associates, departments, physicians and management as necessary; Evaluating and documenting each patients response to interventions. May serve as Charge Nurse; be responsible for caregiver assignments according to patient need, individual nurse workload, and available staff. Acts as a resource person to assess overall situations of the department is capable of making independent decisions, and reports pertinent information to the Physician, Charge Nurse, Clinical Team Leader, Manager, Director or House Supervisor.Responsible for performing age specific nursing assessment applying the Nursing Process as it relates to Maternal/Newborn/Gynecological and other types of patients on unit. This includes observation and interaction with patient/significant others to identify physical and psychosocial needs and age specific requirements. The RN will utilize data obtained by assessment to identify and document nursing diagnoses, which serve as a basis for the plan of nursing care.The patients in this unit are adult women ages 12-100. Most are post delivery, antepartum, or post-surgical/gynecological patients. Some have medical problems or trauma complicated by pregnancy and/or complications of pregnancy. Some post partum patients will have rooming in with their newborns and in these situations, mother-baby nursing care may be required. Post partum care is given to mothers and their newborn infants. Some patients will require intensive monitoring, care and observation. Beds on Womens Center may be used for non-infectious medical/surgical overflow cases during periods of low WC census.

Job Requirements

Requires completion from accredited school of nursing.

Must maintain current State of Idaho Registered Nurse license. Maintain current AHA CPR for Healthcare Providers card.A nurse in Womens Center either within the first year of hireand every two years thereaftermust maintain the following competencies:
  • STABLE
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (recertify every two years).
  • Complete skills checklists.
  • Complete and maintain hospital/unit specific mandatory requirements in a timely manner. Individuals will be enrolled in courses based on previous experience and unit needs.
